#METAL GEAR RISING REVENGEANCE PC SAVE GAME EDITOR SERIES#
The Metal Gear series traditionally relies on stealth and silenced weapons, but the moment-to-moment action of Rising is an aggressive and elegant alternative. This is a tight action experience without an ounce of fat, and Rising’s pace is just as quick as its technical melee combat. Rising propels players toward a boss battle every 45 minutes, introduces new enemy types regularly, and unleashes waves of cyborg soldiers to slice with a sword.

The relentless act of actually fighting terrorists is what matters here, and there’s little need for motivation when the action is this fun. Ultimately, the conversations and character cameos are pure fan-service that everyone else can skip without missing a beat. The geo-political lecturing seem engineered specifically for fans of Metal Gear Solid 4’s melodrama, but it doesn’t connect well with the action. The events of Raiden’s retaliation range from goofy and fun, stylish and cool, to overwrought metaphor. The convoluted plot starts as lucidly as the series has ever been, but spirals out of control almost immediately: the assassination of a recovering country’s leader sends Raiden, a cyborg ninja, after a terrorist cell that’s kidnapping kids and infiltrating America’s political infrastructure.

To its credit, you’re rarely made to watch what you’d rather play, but the story bits, interesting though they are for fans, ultimately intrude on the fast-paced flow of combat.

all in all i might raise that 6 into a 7.The most consistent issue in Rising is its cutscenes. and for the other bosses (the dog, mistrel, the buggy devil fruit user guy) they were too similar and had some gimmicks in them that were annoying like the small robots in mistrel's fight. Armstrong's fight was pretty entertaining story wise and very hilarious but the cutscenes were interfering with the gameplay and I also fking hated fighting the robot since this games controls don't feel that satisfying to control when trying to evade attacks by giant enemies or hazards.

I'm also a fan of some platinum games works such as God hand on ps2 when they were clover studios and Bayonetta 1 on pc, although I can't say the same about vanquish which i dropped before completing bc it felt tedious to play after the amazing first impressions waned off.Įdit: about the boss fights, I enjoyed sundowners fight and also Sam's fight a bit even though it felt short and pretty vanilla but I guess it's appropriate for a duel but it also was an exercise in abusing the parry button then repeating the same combo over and over. I had high hopes for the game after watching some reviews on Youtube and reddit with some people calling the game the best spectacle fighter of all time, Of course I'm not trying to discredit their opinion since game enjoyment is entirely subjects but It's just that the game was riddled with so many flaws that I was left completely disappointed by the end of it all.įor some context: Besides playing a few minutes of both metal gear 2 and 3 on my ps2 as a kid and metal gear 4 on a ps3, I didn't have any previous experience with the metal gear series, so I was completely unfamiliar with the story and characters and themes of this franchise.

Nope I didn't even feel obliged to play the DLC I have recently started making a spreadsheet list of games that I would like to try and review, giving each one of them a score grid and listing their positive and negative points on two different grids along with a last grid for replayability (If I will come back to the game anytime soon). Now on to the review of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on pc PLAYED with Mouse and Keyboard on NORMAL difficulty taking from my spreadsheet : GameĪwkward Camera which gives me motion sickness – Disappointing bosses –Unappealing visuals – limited defensive options – Equipment use and stealth sections – Uninteresting secondary weapons and limited move sets for the primary one – Over reliance on zandatsu and parrying resulting in QTE-like rection focused gameplay – Cutscenes and platforming sections interrupting the flow of gameplay especially during bosses – Combat feels chaotic and unsatisfyingįun over the top cheesy political satire with some boring moments – Tight one on one combat moments This is my first attempt at making a "Detailed" review post on a game, besides the fact that I'm not a native English speaker.
